Ruby: This is a Queen hue of equal rank to the Sugilites. These majestic dragons gleam like the gems they were named after, ranging in hue from deep, darker than blood red, to a lighter almost joyful hue. Underneath their primary color shifts a second shade of red, almost seeming to pulse with life under the light as she moves. Their massive bodies strike awe in those around them, being the largest of all hues and more muscular than the other females. Their personalities are well suited to queendom, for they are fiercely protective over what is theirs and though they do not give their loyalty lightly, once they have it is extremely difficult to break. However, their passionate nature is tempered by wisdom and compassion, allowing them to rule fairly and maintain control over their passions. This hue bonds only to females, looking specifically for those women who are well able to control their dragon's passion, yet also able to match it without losing their reasoning.
Sugilite: These Queens are not quite as large as their Ruby counterparts, however they are faster, giving them an equal rank. This rich purple hue has many different variations of colors and patterns spreading over its body, but what makes them so breathtaking is the almost cloudlike swirls their hue creates. It reminds those who see them of a sunset sky made up only of purple hues, and the sight is not one to overlook. These queens are calmer than the Rubies, but no less protective or intelligent. They choose to rule with playfulness and a sly wit rather than the depth of passion and emotion the Rubies do, though they feel both strongly. They only bond to females as well, but they tend to look for woman who have a strong sense of rather absurd humor, and who can rule confidently with a gentle hand.
Onyx: Unlike the Queens, this King hue outranks the Diamond. These magnificent beasts are true protectors of the weyr, carrying the largest muscle mass of any of the hues, though they are slightly smaller in length than the Rubies. Their hues reflect the darkest, moonless night, shimmering brilliantly with their complete lack of color. The most rare variation of this hue is born with what almost seems like a dark purple or blue lying beneath the skin, only visible under the most direct light, but is found so rarely people believe it to be a myth unless they see it with their own eyes. These fierce dragons do their job as protectors well, with an iron will and nerves of steel. They can be passionate creatures when roused but prefer to deal with life with a more logical approach. These strong males require equally strong riders, able to both temper their passions and keep up with their logic.
Diamond: These Kings are smaller than the Onyx, with less muscle mass, but not by much. Where the Onyx gleams, they sparkle, their hides so brilliant it almost hurts to look upon them. Their hue is white based, but the slightest variations can give them either a pure as snow look, have a tint of lightest blue, or even be so pure in color as to be almost transluscent. They are considered to be the most logical of the hues, burying their emotions deep and only showing them to those they trust most. However this allows them a unique outlook on problems and they often make some of the most important decisions during battle, as well as everyday decisions. They usually look for men who are as cool and unrattled as themselves, but on occasion find themselves drawn to those of much greater passion than their own.
Tourmaline: These dragons are smaller than the Queens or Kings, but no less magnificent to look at. Their hues range from so dark a pink its almost red to so light it appears white in certain lights. The male dragons tend to favor the darker shades and the females the lighter, but that is not always the case. On the more rare occasion, you will see a dragon with multiple shades of pink coloring their hide in what looks to be either a collage or rainbow of color. These dragons are also the most playful of the hues. They will go to any lengths to flatter and charm those around them in order to see them happy. It is nearly impossible to hold a grudge against them for they make it their mission to get back in your good graces, and have a solid wall of stubbornness beneath their playful attitude. However do not be fooled, for they are fierce and loyal soldiers and will fight using whatever tricks they have to in order to protect the happiness of the weyr. They are kind and loving beasts, be they male or female, and seek riders who are either as playful and joyful as themselves, or on the rarer ocassion those that have the most dire need of their unique charm to bring them happiness.
Aquamarine: These are perhaps the most mysterious of all the dragons. Their build is slightly smaller than the Tourmalines, yet the same size as the Lapis with a slightly smaller wingspan. Their hue, however, is unique in that it never gets darker than an afternoon sky, nor lighter than the ice frozen atop a lake. However, no matter what shade they are they have a mixture of blue and green to their hides, some favoring one more than the others, yet always managing to blend seamlessly. These magnificent creatures are very calm, and though their emotions surface occasionally, few get to see more than their distant politeness. They are almost always kind, however, only choosing to keep the world at a discreet distance and letting those they trust come close enough to see them in all their glory. They are almost ethereal in the way they glide about the world, their calm beauty almost seeming to be born of the mists rather than the earth itself. They are always female dragons and they look for riders who appreciate their highly sought after trust, and who will not push them into giving that trust to others. They need someone of a kind heart and cool demeanor, rarely finding themselves drawn to those of a passionate nature.
Lapis: These dragons are roughly the same size as the Aquamarines but are not as fast as them. They are, however much more passionate, and without the control to temper it as the Rubies do. They tend to be wild and hard to manage when they are young for they act almost purely on instinct and emotion and allow logic to kick in later when facing the consequences of those actions. They have a deep capacity for caring, but are generally known as the rogues of the dragons. Their ability to so favor their instincts proves to be very useful, however, as Search dragons, for they see no need to second guess their gut decisions when it concerns potential Candidates. For that reason they are very rarely wrong. Although they are so free and somewhat dangerous, these males are highly sought after by females of lower or equal ranks in the hopes of taming them. They tend to choose riders who are able to match their passion and not try to temper it, rather having the stability and strength of mind to allow them to be what they were meant to be.
Amber: These males are smaller than those ranked above them, but they pay it no mind. They tend to turn their attention to the land around them, preferring to solve problems with their minds rather than their brawn. They have a very rich hue, ranging anywhere from light yellow gold to a darker almost rich golden brown, and all shades in between. They sparkle and gleam in the sun and love to spend their time simply soaring in the sky and roaming the earth. They aren't the most driven of the hues, but once they have discovered a problem they will not stop until they have discovered a means of fixing it. Contrarily, they have a deep love for music and poetry and often wish to perform songs. They are kind souls not given to bouts of unruly passion, but rather shower a constant soothing stream of affection upon those around them. They tend to seek riders who have more of a scientific mind, for they understand how one can lose track of time when a problems solution is within their grasp. Yet they also need someone who will remind them to act like a normal dragon now and again, and simply play.
Jade: These female dragons are the most flirtatious of the hues. They devote themselves to becoming the best they can be so they may attract the most male attention. The second smallest dragons of the weyr, they still cut an impressive figure with their brilliantly gleaming hues of various shades of green. They sparkle as they play, seeming to dance through life with the sole purpose of having fun. Its contagious to be around them, and many seek out their company. The seek riders of all personalities, able to find joy in each individual.
Moonstone: These dragons are the smallest of the weyr. They are born both male and female, and can bond to eiher gender. They have rather unique hides, their hues ranging in many different colors, but all light with a opal like sheen covering them. This sheen gives them a transluscent feel and makes them extremely beautiful. They aren't the most intelligent of dragons, but they are exceedingly clever and use their small stature to their advantage. They are very loyal and trusting, prefering to see the beauty in the world. They seek riders with an optimistic outlook on life and who treat all others equally.
